The core planning and development area served by the North Central Regional Planning Commission consists of twelve (12) counties. However, NCRPC staff oversees a number of programs and/or projects that have far reaching impact throughout much of Kansas. - Core Planning and Development Area: The twelve counties that form the North Central Regional Planning Commission.
- Economic Development District: The North Central Regional Planning Commission has been designated as an Economic Development District by the Economic Development Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce. Each of the counties included in the core planning and development area are impacted by this designation in that they not only have the latitude to set goals and objectives, they also have access to EDA support for infrastructure projects of local and regional design that impact business development and job creation.
- Four Rivers Development, Inc.: A close affiliate of the NCRPC, FORDI provides loan packaging services to ten (10) counties included in the NCRPC area. This arm of the NCRPC has packaged in excess of $70.0 Million in private business loans benefiting over 300 businesses in North Central Kansas.
- NCKCN: A close affiliate of the NCRPC, the North Central Kansas Community Network (NCKCN) is a local internet service provider. Services provided include high speed access via cable and wireless technologies plus simple dial-up service.
- Public Health: The NCRPC is engaged in activities that help coordinate and plan regional public health.
- Weatherization: The NCRPC is under contract with the State of Kansas to administer a program focused on making select housing more energy efficient. These services are offered across thirty-three (33) counties.
- Homeland Security: The NCRPC is fiscal agent to four (4) Homeland Security regions.
- Rural Business Development Tax Credit (RBDTC) Program: The NCRPC receives and places 75% state tax credits as a means of raising money for purposes of regional economic development. Here, the NCRPC serves nineteen (19) counties, including cities like Emporia, Junction City, Manhattan and Salina.
