How We Help

The NCRPC Business Finance program assists in obtaining funding to start, improve, expand, or buy a business. Services are available within a 12-county area of North Central Kansas including the counties of: Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Ottawa, Republic, Saline, and Washington.

NCRPC Loan Programs

NCRPC offers two business loan programs which provide favorable terms to meet your business gap financing needs.

  • Loan amount available:

    $50,000 maximum/$5,000 minimum (subject to availability of funds).

    ​

    Interest rate:

    • 3% fixed for term/amortization of 5 years or less

    • 5% fixed for term/amortization of over 5 years

    ​

    Term:

    Based on project needs, up to 20 years

     

    Primary eligibility requirements:

    • Minimum of 10% from Applicant/Borrower

    • Business projects that appear viable

    • Good personal credit history

    • Request for assistance from a bank with a physical location in the NCRPC 12-county service area

    ​

    Special features:

    Usecured, with the owner as a co-borrower.

  • Loan amount available:

    $50,000 per job being created/retained - OR - one-third of project cost, whichever is less; $20,000 minimum/$150,000 maximum loan amount (subject to availability of funds).

  • NCRPC provides confidential, one-on-one assistance through every step of obtaining financing for your business. Our goal is to help you make a strong first impression and improve your chances of securing financing to start, expand, or purchase a business. 

  • Loan packaging services include:

    • Reviewing project feasibility to determine funding potential for starting, expanding, or purchasing a business at no charge. 

    • Discussing potential local, state, and federal financing programs available for your project, including eligibility requirements. 

    • Preparing loan applications tailored to meet specific program requirements using information provided by the client (fees apply). 

    • Accompanying clients to meetings with the lender of their choice to help answer questions.

  • Over the past 25 years, NCRPC-assisted projects have achieved the following approval rates:

    • Revolving Loan Fund Programs - 99% approval rate

    • SBA 7a Loan Program - 98% approval rate

    • GrowKS Loan Program - 100% approval rate

    • Kansas Department of Commerce CDBG - Economic Development - 100%

    • Review of loan feasibility and financing options is free.* 

    • A non-refundable deposit is required once a client decides to proceed. 

    • An additional fee is charged only if the loan is approved.

    *Free assistance is underwritten by The Patterson Family Foundation for the NCRPC 12-county area, excluding Saline County. Assistance in Saline County is underwritten by NCRPC.

The NCRPC Business Finance Program provides confidential, one-on-one assistance to help you evaluate opportunities, strengthen financing requests, and move through the business acquisition process with confidence.

    Our technical assistance services are designed to help determine the viability of a business purchase and prepare you for the lending process. 

    ​

    Services may include:

    ​

    • Reviewing adjusted historical earnings to help assess whether the asking price is reasonable

    • Identifying important questions for the seller regarding asset value and ownership transition

    • Estimating operating and working capital needs beyond the purchase price

    • Reviewing draft purchase agreements and identifying questions for your attorney or accountant

  • Our technical assistance services are designed to help determine the viability of a start-up business and prepare you for the lending process.

    Services may include: 

    ​

    • Evaluating whether you are in a position to successfully launch a business 

    • Determining whether a clear market need has been identified for the business 

    • Reviewing draft business plans, projections, and assumptions to identify gaps and key questions before moving forward 

    • Providing referrals to the Kansas Small Business Development Center for assistance with business plans, projections, and assumptions when needed 

    • Estimating operating and working capital needs 

    • Assessing financing feasibility and discussing funding options 

  • Business loan requests may be declined for a variety of reasons, including poor cash flow, weak credit history, insufficient collateral, or incomplete or unrealistic financial information. The NCRPC Business Finance Program helps small businesses assess key loan feasibility factors, strengthen their financial readiness, and improve their chances of loan approval.
