Our Community Development team works with local governments, rural utilities, and non-profit organizations on projects of all types and sizes. Many are infrastructure-related, but not all. Some common examples include:

No. We do not provide grants or loans directly for community development projects. Occasionally we do receive grants that allow us to fund small projects in the region, but this is the exception.
Yes. We assist communities throughout all phases of a project — from early project planning and funding application assistance to project administration and grant management after funding is awarded.
An environmental review (ER) is an evaluation of a project’s potential environmental impacts. Many funding programs require an ER before a project can move forward if Federal grant or loan funds are awarded. NCRPC Staff is able to complete the ER process on behalf of grantees.
Yes, we work with communities of all sizes. Some programs have specific funding limits or requirements based on population.
We primarily serve the 12 counties of North Central Kansas: Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Ottawa, Republic, Saline, and Washington.
Some NCRPC Community Development services are included as part of local government membership dues. Other services are provided on a contractual basis, with fees varying depending on the scope and needs of the project.
Typically, no. Most funding programs require the applicant to provide matching funds to cover part of the project costs. The required amount varies by program, and matching funds generally must be secured before applying.
No. Generally, grant applications and approval must always be completed BEFORE any project work is done.
