Helping eligible households reduce energy costs and improve home comfort through energy-saving improvements.

What is Weatherization?

The Weatherization Assistance Program helps eligible households lower energy costs by making homes more energy efficient. Services may include insulation, air sealing, heating system improvements, and other measures designed to improve comfort, safety, and energy performance. Weatherization services are provided for low-income households at no cost and are available in the following counties.

Eligibility

  • Eligibility for the Weatherization Program is based solely on income.

  • Verification of income is required to apply (i.e., pay stubs, unemployment, public assistance documents. 

  • All weatherization work is done at no cost to the individual resident. 

  • If the dwelling is a rental unit, the landlord must sign a landlord release form before any materials are installed.

    Weatherization Application

  • All weatherization work is done at no cost to the individual resident.

  • Rentals are accepted, but the landlord must sign an agreement.

  • Yes, there are specific stipulations in regards to income qualification and may require owner contributions.

  • Be sure to send back a completed application with all signatures needed, proof of ownership, and proof of income for all household members of the home.

  • Our agency has a list of approved contractors that work with our program. NCRPC is responsible for choosing the contractor(s) best suited to work on your home.

  • Weatherization may include:

    • Sealing drafts and air leaks, caulking doors and windows, and weatherstripping

    • Testing, cleaning, repairing, or replacing heating and cooling systems and water heaters

    • Insulating ceilings, walls, floors, and foundations

    • Upgrading lighting, fans, and refrigerators

  • Yes, mobile homes are also eligible for weatherization.

We will reach out to schedule an inspection to indentify eligible improvements.
