Funding Resources

This program helps fund projects to build, rebuild, or refresh community spaces that help foster local connections. Examples include items such as the town square pavilion, a historic building, an outdoor park, a ball field, a library, etc. Towns with populations less than 50,000 are eligible to apply. Grants are up to $50,000 per town.

Grants in four major areas including: higher education; youth services; arts and culture; and health care and hospitals. Support focuses on supporting bricks and mortar projects, awarding grants to nonprofits in the Kansas City region and other areas where the Ash Grove Cement Company does business. Eligible areas include Western Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Western Iowa, and, to a lesser extent, in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Utah and Montana. Areas of interest include higher education, churches, youth serving agencies, health facilities, community buildings, museums, civic projects, and low maintenance, energy efficient housing projects sponsored by qualified tax-exempt organizations.

Program provides funding to eligible nonprofit organizations for security-related activities including planning, exercises, training, equipment, and maintenance and sustainment. Organizations must apply through their respective State Administrative Agency (SAA).

Grants to nonprofit organizations for direct services and efforts that build the capacity of organizations focused on the following causes within Union Pacific local operating communities: Safety, Workforce Development, and Community Spaces. A small portion of the funding is allocated to assist communities meet local needs. Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations located in Union Pacific communities are eligible to apply. Typical grant awards range from $2,500 – $25,000.

Program awards small grants to local organizations to support the needs of communities. Eligible entities include 501c3 organizations, government entities, schools, and faith-based organizations. Grants are available through each of the Walmart and Sam’s Club facilities. Local Community grants range from $250 to $5,000.

Grants for historical markers intended to help preserve history, educate the public, encourage pride of place and promote historic tourism. Nonprofits, academic institutions, local, and state government entities are eligible to apply.
