Draft Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Open for Comment

The draft NCRPC Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) 2026–2031 is now available for public review and comment. The five-year strategy provides a roadmap for strengthening communities, supporting economic growth, and building resilience across North Central Kansas.

A regional strategy session in February 2026 was one of several opportunities for stakeholder engagement during the CEDS planning process.

As the region’s Economic Development District designated by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), the NCRPC coordinates the CEDS planning process every five years.

The draft plan was developed through a public engagement process involving regional leaders, community members, businesses, educators, youth, and other stakeholders. More than 100 people contributed through meetings and discussions, 298 individuals responded to a regional survey, and 104 youth shared their perspectives through a pilot youth survey. This input helped identify the issues that matter most to residents and shape the priorities outlined in the plan.

The public comment period closes September 16. Following the comment period, all feedback will be reviewed and appropriate revisions will be made before the NCRPC Board considers adoption of the final CEDS.
