North Central Regional Planning Commission Receives Two 2026 NADO Impact Awards

The North Central Regional Planning Commission (NCRPC), based in Beloit, Kansas, has received two 2026 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Awards from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) for projects addressing housing and infrastructure needs.

“NCRPC has a long history of responding to needs with innovative programs while sourcing external funding to augment local investment,” said Debra Carlson Ohlde, NCRPC Executive Director. “This recognition is a testament to our dedicated staff and the passionate and creative ways they serve our region.”
Presented annually, the NADO Impact Awards honor regional development organizations and their partners for strengthening communities, building regional resilience, and enhancing local economies through creative approaches to economic and community development. NADO is a Washington, DC-based membership association of regional development organizations that promotes programs and policies that strengthen local governments, communities, and economies.
One of NCRPC’s recognized projects, Housing in Rural Kansas: A Comprehensive Regional Approach, addressed rural housing needs through incentives, removal of derelict structures, and proactive community partnerships.
The second project, Moving the Needle on Infrastructure Issues: A Regional Approach to Early Project Planning, leveraged federal funds to help very small rural communities identify needs related to water, streets, and wastewater infrastructure and take the first steps toward planning needed improvements.
“Our organization is honored to be recognized with the 2026 NADO Impact Awards. This recognition reflects the dedication and passion of our staff, funding partners, and collaborators,” said Keegan Bailey, NCRPC Assistant Director and Housing Director. “Housing is a foundational block of a strong community. Through collaboration, innovation, and a comprehensive regional approach, we are not just addressing housing needs, we are helping to build stronger communities for future generations.”
All selected projects are featured in an interactive StoryMap that showcases summaries, images, and key partners.
