NCRPC Housing Initiative to Launch on November 16

Programs available through a partnership with the Dane G. Hansen Foundation offer housing rehabilitation and demolition assistance to eligible property owners in 24 Kansas counties
The North Central Regional Planning Commission (NCRPC) Housing Initiative will open November 16, offering financial assistance for housing rehabilitation or demolition in 24 counties across North Central and Northwest Kansas.

Administered by the NCRPC in partnership with the Dane G. Hansen Foundation of Logan, Kansas, the initiative provides reimbursement grants to eligible residential property owners on a first-come, first-served basis while funding remains available. The two programs address different needs through assistance for housing rehabilitation or demolition of dilapidated residential structures.
The Demolition Program offers reimbursement grants of up to $5,000 per property for the removal and cleanup of dilapidated residential structures in eligible counties. There are no income requirements for this program.
The Moderate Income Housing Rehabilitation Program offers reimbursement grants of up to $10,000 to eligible homeowners for minor housing upgrades, such as roofing, siding, windows, or heating and air units. Homeowners must provide a 10% match, up to $1,000, and are responsible for any project costs exceeding the grant amount. The home must be the homeowner’s primary residence and rental properties are not eligible. Household income must meet the moderate-income guidelines outlined in the program application.
“We believe every community deserves safe, quality housing and neighborhoods people are proud to call home,” said Keegan Bailey, NCRPC Assistant Director and Housing Director. “By rehabilitating homes with potential and removing those beyond repair, the NCRPC Housing Initiative is helping communities turn challenges into opportunities.”
The Housing Initiative launched its first pilot programs in 2022. The upcoming launch continues the partnership’s efforts to address housing needs throughout the area.
“We appreciate the continued partnership with the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to make this assistance available to property owners,” said Bailey.
The new funding round will serve property owners in 24 Kansas counties: Cheyenne, Cloud, Decatur, Ellsworth, Gove, Graham, Jewell, Lincoln, Logan, Mitchell, Osborne, Ottawa, Phillips, Rawlins, Republic, Rooks, Russell, Saline (outside Salina city limits), Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Thomas, Trego and Wallace.
Applications will be available online only beginning November 16 after 9 a.m. Central Time. Due to anticipated demand, responses to inquiries may be delayed immediately following the launch.
