The following is a listing of funding opportunities potentially available for projects related to Energy Efficiency and Pollution Control with focus on programs applicable to North Central Kansas. Click here for helpful tips on seeking project funding.


Green School Grants

Grants up to $4,500 per school for any public or private K-12 school in Kansas. Limited to projects that can reasonably be completed within one school year. Project must address solid waste management issues such as recycling, composting or waste reduction projects in addition to including learning objectives that will engage students directly.

Deadline: Annually, typically in February.

USDA Rural Development – Rural Energy for America Program

Program provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to purchase or install renewable energy systems or make energy efficiency improvements. Agricultural producers with at least 50% of gross income coming from agricultural operations, and small businesses in eligible rural areas may apply.

Waste Tire Grants

Grants to local units of government and school districts to support the purchase of products made from recycled tires including playground cover. Program will provide up to 50% of the total cost to purchase and install eligible products made from waste tires.

Deadline: Annually, typically in late January or early February.
