Leadership Stipend

NCRPC McKinney Leadership Stipend

The North Central Regional Planning Commission encourages a culture of learning, leading, and teaching. Through the McKinney Leadership Stipend, NCRPC provides a limited pool of $500 per fiscal year (April 1–March 31) to help offset the cost of training or conferences for individuals living and/or working in the 12-county NCRPC service area who have demonstrated a commitment to improving their community or workplace. Funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until annual funds are exhausted. The aim is to support individual growth while also strengthening leadership capacity across the region.

The assistance is named in honor of Doug McKinney, who served as NCRPC Executive Director for 12 years and was passionate about leadership training throughout his 34-year tenure with the organization.

  1. Recipient must live or work in the 12-county NCRPC service area. Preference will be given to those serving local government or non-profits and those who do not have the option of being sponsored by their employer
  2. Total funding available from NCRPC is capped at $500 per fiscal year. Funds are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
  3. The stipend is paid as a reimbursement. Receipts must be submitted within 60 days of the eligible activity. Partial reimbursements are possible, pending funding availability.

How to Apply

Applicants must apply before attending the event. Award decisions are made by the NCRPC review committee within 30 days of application. Submission of an application does not guarantee funding. Recipients will be notified by email. Reimbursement payments will be made within 30 days of the attendee submitting their eligible receipts.

Eligible applications will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to funding availability. If demand exceeds the funding availability, applicants will be reviewed competitively by a NCRPC review committee on regional impact, leadership potential, and if they are a first-time applicant.
